The U.S.S. Arizona was just one of many casualties during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, but this particular ship stands out for a variety of reasons. The Arizona was a first-class battleship, the pearl of the U.S. navy. If it hadn't been for the surprise attack that sank this ship to the bottom of the ocean, the Arizona would have no doubt been leading the charge out in the Pacific.

This Japanese war strategy entailed invading southeast Asia, seizing rich resources such as the oil-heavy Dutch East Indies, while simultaneously launching a devastating surprise attack on Pearl Harbor aimed at completely crippling the U.S. Pacific fleet.
